I think the number 1 question on every travelers mind is, will it be safe to travel again in 2021?
There is no hiding that 2020 was a crazy, emotional and strenuous year for everyone. All things considered we have made it to the end of the year and now looking forward to what 2021 has in store for us.
Of course covid pending, here is a list of 25 places that you should put on your travel list for 2021. These are in no order as each one is on the list for different reasons.
1. Philipsburg – Sint Maarten
What a stunning place to watch the sunset. Amazing beach and great hospitality from the locals. Read More
2. Krugar Park – South Africa
My first safari experience and I am not sure anything could top it. Seeing the big 5 in the first day and watching these amazing animals in their own environment, breathtaking. Read More
3. Sintra – Portugal
A fairytale come true. Ok there was no knight on a white horse rescuing me, but there was an enchanted castle. This beautiful city on the South shore of Portugal is mystifying. Read More
4. Collingwood – Canada
Get lost in nature. I have never had a spa experience like this one. Relaxation and total body awareness in the middle of the forest. Hot and cold pools, sauna and eucalyptus steam room. Read more
5. Jaco Beach – Costa Rica
A beginners surfing paradise. Warm waters, amazing surfing guides and easy waves make getting up on a surf easy for anyone. I didn’t learn here but will say I got up on every wave I went on. Read more
6. Playa del Carmen – Mexico
Rio Secreto just outside of town is the number one reason to visit here. Explore the underground world of caving. Walk, Swim and climb your way through the cavern. Read more
7. Road to Hana – Hawaii
Not so much the destination but the journey getting there. Take the one lane bridges, the twists and turns and make your way to the town of Hana on this epic road trip. Read more
8. Chiang Mai – Thailand
There is no better time to visit Chiang Mai like the lantern festival. Watching the locals take pride in this celebration was more than I could have hoped to experience. Read more
9. Point Pelee – Canada
Stand on the ever changing most Southern tip of mainland Canada. Here you can find yourself during the monarch butterfly migration or sitting on a bench looking for migrating birds. Read more
10. Maho Beach – Sint Maarten
If you are a stranger to the travel let me explain this experience. This beach is located right at the airport runway. Yes the planes really do fly that low and it’s a rush standing underneath. Do take caution, it is not the safest idea, you can get hurt. Read more
11. Skagway – USA
A hikers paradise. This small mining town is home to some of the greatest hiking trails. Perhaps you want to take the White Pass and Yukon train. Read More
12. Cape Town – South Africa
Hike or take a cable car to Table Top Mountain. Or maybe you would like to hang out with some penguins at Boulder Beach. Read more
13. Ao Nang – Thailand
Amazing beaches, locals who are beyond friendly and great small hikes. It is no wonder this area is becoming such a tourist place. Read more
14. Boston – USA
Take a girls weekend and drink some beers while watching the Red Sox play so ball. Take a stroll down historical lane on the freedom trail. Read more
15. Vancouver – Canada
Walk around the most beautiful gardens I have found so far in this amazing city. Take a stroll around the waterfront and watch the sunset.
16. La Fortuna – Costa Rica
Hike a volcano or emerge yourself into a hot spring. This incredible tourist spots has so much to offer even during peak times it doesn’t seem that crowded. Read more
17. Jeffreys Bay – South Africa
Known for its super tubes in the surfing world this small town in Southern South Africa is a great place to learn. My experience was not what I was hoping for but I had an amazing time. Read more
18. Chichen Itza – Mexico
Explore the Mayan Ruins and see the amazing history. I could spend days walking around and taking it all in. Read more
19. Old San Juan – USA
One of my favorite spots to stop while I worked on the ships. The night life and history here are so worth a trip back. Read more
20. Maui – USA
One of my favorite Islands in Hawaii. Not much night life but that’s because after all the day time activities you are beat.
21. Lagos – Portugal
Walk the shoreline of this stunning city. There is so much beauty wrapped up here I could spend weeks just wandering around. Read More
22. Storms River – South Africa
In one day this placed captured so much. I know I will have to come back here to explore more. Truly for those who love nature. Read more
23. Nassau – Bahamas
Take a stroll outside of Atlantis and you will find yourself surrounded by so much history. Read More
24. Puerto Viejo – Costa Rica
The coziest town I have ever visited. Amazing day time and night time entertainment. An animal Sanctuary that I fell in love with. Read more
25. Elephant Tour Thailand
There are a few places in Thailand that this amazing rescue sanctuary work out of, so this is not a place so much. However this is on this list because if it brings you half the amount of joy it brought me you will be smiling just as long as me. This was the highlight for me one year ago and still is. Read more
Final Thoughts
We don’t know what is in store for us in 2021 but I really hope I can add to this list next year.
