A day at the spa in Collingwood

Winter Spa Day in Collingwood Ontario

Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain

Immerse yourself into serenity. This day was amazing and unforgettable.

My sister and I had been talking for years that we wanted to go to the Scandinave Spa in Blue Mountain Ontario. Located 2 hours North West of Toronto it is worth the journey.

What to expect when you arrive

If you are coming for a massage you also get time in the rest of the spa. This includes hot and cold pools, a sauna, a steam room, a quiet room and also to wonder the trails.

If you want all those and not a massage you will have to wait in line. It is first come first serve basis. If you are planning this be prepared to wait for a long period of time. In the winter dress warm, we wore snow pants and boots. In the summer make sure you bring a sun hat and water. This was truly my only concern when I went.

Become one with Nature

Snow Trail Spa

Arrive early and reconnect with nature and all her beauty. This will get your senses going and help you relax. During the fall months this is truly the best time. Red, yellows and orange leaves leave you breathless. If you can time it right after a nice light snowfall like we did is also a stunning and relaxing experince.

How it works

Warming – The first step is to warm your body. Even on a hot day you want to get those blood vessels working. There are 4 ways to do that. Hot pool, steam room, finnish sauna or the infrared sauna. You have all day to cycle through so change it up. I personally loved the Eucalyptus steam bath.

Cool Rinse – oh this was hard to do in the middle of winter but it is worth it. There are 4 areas to do this. The Nordic waterfall, cold rinse pool, a cold shower or what we did a dip in the snow.

Snow seat spa

Relaxation- This was the best part for me. There is a room with floor to ceiling and wall to wall windows looking out into nature. This is a blissful experience. I could imagine in the summer the wildlife you made encounter with this. This is the time to just relax the body and mind.

Relax with a hot tea and red pepper soup.

There is nothing I love more than red pepper soup. At the Bistro you can get yourself a beverage and light meal. I suggest getting the soup, it was really good.

Soup Time Spa

Other services

Why not relax even more with a massage. Here at the spa they offer 4 types of massages.

  • Swedish Relaxation Massage
  • Therapeutic Massage
  • Pregnancy  Massage
  • Duo Massage

Next time I make it there I will definitely try one.

Things to bring

Here are a list of items to bring with you

  1. Refillable water bottle
  2. Slippers
  3. Robe (they also have rentals) if you are getting a massage this is included.
  4. Bathing suit is mandatory
  5. Mask

Things to keep in mind while here

This is a silent place. You are here to relax your mind and body. Yes I am guilty of not fully submerging myself into the experience. I will go back soon and surrender myself. I was however respectful of those around me indulging themselves in the experience.
