Having been on a couple solo trips in my thirties I realized that there are so many beautiful and safe places to travel as a single female. In fact, women have become more fierce and brave over the years, why not venture out on our own.
Traveling alone doesn’t mean you can’t or won’t enjoy the company of others while abroad. But merely enjoying some time of self reflection.
Safety is key while traveling, with this in mind, here is a list of the top ten safest places for women to travel solo. Not in any order.
Finland
Finland is know to be the happiest place in the world and for the cleanest air. Who wouldn’t want that for a vacation? Whenever I travel I look for scenery and relaxation. Here you will find both, notably the spas and Finnish saunas.
Now if you are traveling in the winter you could check out Santa’s Village, sleep in a snow hotel but more importantly see the aurora borealis.
Canada
I was so happy to see Canada on the list, since this is my home Country. I feel blessed knowing that my home land is a place women can travel to and feel safe.
There is so much that Canada has to offer, such as amazing places to hike, beautiful mountains and coastal fresh air. Nature is something most of us treasure here. But most of all we are known for our stunning scenery and friendly people.
New Zealand
So here is why I am happy this made the list and why I was not surprised it was great for women travelers, I mean after all, New Zealand was the first country to allow women to vote.
The country side and mountain views are one to be seen. Here you will find naturally heated hot pools. If you are a budget traveler such as myself try out a free experience. Furthermore this is the first country to see the sunrise.
Uruguay
The second smallest Country in South America is Uruguay. Known for having the “humblest head of state” it is a friendly and relaxed place to visit.
Uruguay is not a cheap place to travel to, in reality it is the most expensive in South America. A stunning coast line with soft sand beaches and it also is the birthplace to the tango, lessons maybe?
Switzerland
The mountains and chocolate are calling my name. When I think of Switzerland I think neutral grounds and amazing chocolate. Yes I love my milky goodness.
If you are a lady who loves the outdoors, hiking, skiing then this is the right place for you. Of course the main attraction when you think of here is the Matterhorn and indeed it is a sight to see.
Belgium
I am not 100% sure who made this list but I will say they are like me and must love chocolate. Obviously, since Belgium is also known for their Chocolate. Can’t blame them, I do love my sweets.
Take a journey to where one of the most iconic women in history was born. The stunning Audrey Hepburn was born in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Alongside beauty and chocolate you have great beer, what more could a girl ask for on vacation!
Austria
For the ladies that love history here is the place for you. Austria is known for its enchanted castles, palaces and stunning buildings.
Often called “the land of music” you can discover many famous festivals here. Finally why not test your voice on a mountain with some yodeling.
Iceland
Iceland is known as the land of fire and ice because of its glaciers and volcanoes. Most certainly in the Instagram world it is most noted for the blue lagoon.
Not expensive to get to but is surely one of the more costly to stay at. With that said if you can go here be sure to check out the black sand beaches, amazing waterfalls and enjoy a spa day in the vibrant blue waters of the blue lagoon.
Japan
Japan known for its traditions, including tea ceremonies, flower arrangements and stunning gardens.
Now if you are a sushi lover of course this is the place to go. Additionally if you are a lover of the outdoors mount Fuji is truly a remarkable site. Here you will find a unique experience of old traditions and modern architecture.
Chile
Chile most known for poetry and wine. Now that is my kind of combination for relaxation.
Sit back and relax gazing over wine fields as far as the eye can see while sipping some of the best white wine in the world.
And for our ladies that love some history, check out Easter Islands Stone Hedge.
Final Notes
When traveling to a foreign country always remember you are not at home. Laws and rules are meant to be followed and your safety should be the number one thing on your mind.
When I travel alone my packing list is different. I stick to the normal list but there is no jewelry, my clothing is not top notch and my makeup is to a minimum. This doesn’t mean you can’t look lovely, it just means you should blend.
If you would like to read more on some of my solo vacations check out South Africa and Thailand. Although they didn’t make this list they are truly beautiful places
