As travelers we plan for everything. What is the weather going to be like? What do I need to bring? Am I packing too much? Am I not bringing enough?
As someone who has traveled out of a suitcase and also with just a backpack, here are things I cannot travel without.

Camera
With our phones getting better cameras everyday it is hard to justify carrying a large one. I am no photographer but I do love capturing moments. Here are my two cameras that I always pack. They are also budget friendly.
The Canon SX40 Powershot Camera. I have had this camera for 8 years. It is easy to use and gives amazing photos. The Canon 5251B001 PowerShot SX40 HS 12.1MP Black Compact Digital Camera is a versatile compact point-and-shoot camera that easily captures amazing photos and videos.
Nikon Coolpix– Beautiful pictures are easy to take on land or in the sea. Waterproof down to a depth of 33 feet, shockproof from a 5.9 feet drop, freezeproof down to a temperature of 14°F.
Passport Cover
Your passport is the most important document you travel with. Why not protect it. I have had my cover for almost 15 years and you would never know. Getting a good quality cover is important.

Travel Cubes
Travel Cubes – If you are as organized as I am you will need these. Recommend rolling your items to maximize storage and to minimize wrinkles; Short or long, roll them up and stash them in these cubes
Compress Bags
Compression bags – Over packing? Planning on bringing home a lot? These are the perfect solution. The combo includes 12 bags (6 M size & 6 L size), saving up to 80% space no vacuum needed, providing a perfect storage solution for travel and home. I knew I was going to bring a lot home from Thailand and these worked out perfect.
Travel Journal
Travel Journals are a writers best friend. This is a great way to keep those memories alive when you get home. It is also a great way to release anxiety while traveling ( check out my ways to cope with travel anxiety )
Backpack
Carryon or backpack – Going hiking, or just need a good sized carryon. I love the mountaintop series, click for a full review of them.
Airplane Pillow
The perfect Pillow. It does not matter if it is 5 hour flight or a 12 hour flight I bring my pillow. I am all about comfort on a plane. The reason I have this pillow is because it clips to my carryon so I don’t have to pack it.
Hiking Boots
Columbia Hiking Boots. I have always love Columbia gear. They are such a great support boot. I am clumsy enough on my own so I need all the support I can get.
Walking Shoe
Sketchers Go Walk – I swear by these shoes. I have 5 pairs of Sketchers and I bring two with me on vacation. They are great for day walks and I used them to hike a volcano in Costa Rica. I am not sponsored by them but Sketchers if you are reading this I would love to be 🙂
Portable Charger
Charger – If you are like me and are not at your room much this will come in handy when you need a recharge of the phone or camera.
