Growing up I would sit and watch these fairy tale movies of a young maiden and a prince living happily ever after. Is that reality? Probably not, but why can’t a girl and just have a small piece of it? Here are top destinations for a fairy tale proposal.
Sintra, Portugal
Sintra Portugal is where I truly felt like I was in a magical land and Quinta da Regaleira has the most stunning gardens. A journey around the grounds you will find a romantic palace, a chapel, fountains and fairy tale grottos. The best time to visit here is spring and autumn to avoid the heat and the crowds.
Alsace, France
Alsace France is a small region is in the north east corner of France bordering Germany. This area is stunning with vineyards, cobble stone streets and picturesque small towns. The town of Colmar in the spring is lit with blooming flowers to match the colorful buildings they reside on. A quaint river that runs through the town is a perfect spot. The best time to visit is from April to June.
Isle of Skye, Scotland

For the lady who loves her history this is not so much fairy tale pretty as it is the scarier side of the witch. Me I love it, it has a snow white touch to it. Ta Prohm Temple is located within the Angkor Wat area, not as busy and only a short tuk tuk away. Best time to visit, get there before 7am before the lines. And if you give the guards a hint to what you are doing maybe they will let you in early.
Hallstatt, Austria
Stunning back drop with snowcapped mountains makes Hallstatt Austria another picture perfect area. This quaint town sits along the waterfront with stunning views. For any women who loves the winter this town is stunning with a fresh blanket of snow. Best times to visit are fall with the rich colors around the town.
Sagano Bamboo Forest, Japan
Jump aboard the romantic train and walk through the tall bamboo. Sagano Bamboo Forest is like walking in a field of giants, you will feel the size of a fairy. Another beautifully lit area so you can visit any time day or night. Best time to visit is in December, you’ll also witness Kyoto Arashiyama Hanatouro illuminations, but be sure to visit early hours of the morning or late afternoon. Also try to go during the week for less crowds.
