The best Tour I did in Belize was with 2 great friends of mine Jeanette and Dewey. Take a journey up a croc filled river and venture off road to some bat caves.
Belize is a well known hot spot for cheap travel. I will be honest the first time that I got off the ship here I was not impressed. However over time it became one of the places I was looking forward to. The port is small but has some great boutiques and small shops for gifts. The best part about it is the country side. There is so much to explore here but make sure you take a tour. I am not saying it is unsafe but you could get ripped off. Belize is becoming a snowbirds(people from Canada and Northern USA) paradise for the cheap homes and low cost living.
Exploring the Country Side
River Crocs, Jeeps and Bat Caves
The day started at the pier and group of us got into a small boat and headed down river. My 2 great friends Jeanette and Dewey were my adventure buddies for this tour. Our guide was explaining about the wildlife here including crocodiles. The one thing I never knew was that they can jump. Yes, they can jump into a boat. So needless to say I wasn’t long sitting near the edge. As we made our way along the river catching glimpses of other wildlife we came up to a small dock, this is where we went from boat to Jeep.
This was the highlight for me, a little dust and mud fun as we made our way to the caves.
Crossing bridges that move is not my cup of tea. I am not a fan of the motion and was so happy that I was not alone, Jeanette you were a trooper girl and we made it.
I like bats as long as they stay hanging and are not flying around me. I actually think they are really cute. This cave was small but a lot of fun to tour. At the end we all sat down for some lunch and then made our way back.
